Garden Sampler Quilt

The Garden Sampler Quilt from Fat Quarter Shop

I must have purchased this kit a few years ago now. It was a block of the month program. So, one block was sent each month for a year. I finally had it longarm quilted and today I finished the binding. It's done! And I love it!
I adore this springtime flower quilt. I've actually never done a sampler quilt and I'm so happy this was my first one.
It measures 87 by 68 inches.
With this project, I learned that its much easier, or less tedious, to use a Block of the Month program. But, at the same time, it takes forever to get a project done. Samplers provide variety so you're not making several of the same block pattern over and over. I love variety.

Anyway, I am thrilled with this quilt and I'm so glad it finally got finished.

Quilting: Its a Thing I do...

I've been quilting for a long time, probably since middle school. I've even sold a few. People say I should sell them more often. But, I've never gotten around to it. Projects come and go. Projects sit on the shelf for awhile. Projects are given as gifts and sometimes I keep a few.

(apparently my daughter likes to snap photos of me on my phone)

I love the process. I think my favorite part is picking the fabrics. The colors, oh so many colors and prints to choose from. Somehow, the fabrics just work though. One eye-catching piece and then another that seems to want to be near the first. Then you have a whole pile of goodness that is just smiling at you to become something new. A project is waiting to be born. Sometimes, its hard to choose just the right pattern though. That's how all my lovely fabrics sit on the shelf for too long... just the right pattern hasn't been found yet.

Every once in awhile, I just use a quilt kit. They make it easy. All of the choosing is done for you. The pattern is given and the fabrics are beautiful together.

Here is a baby quilt top that has been almost completed. It measures 55x55inches. So, I guess its a little more than a baby size. But, this was a curated bundle I purchased from Fabric Stork last year. I finally got around to using it this week.

Nightmare Project below is one that is still in progress. This is foundation paper piecing and I find it so enjoyable to do.
Foundation paper piecing pillows that were given as gift.
These small ones were made as movie night blankets for my kids. They each helped pick their background fabrics, but they all have the similar food and snack prints in the center. These were photos before the finished product.
A t-shirt quilt for a friend. Her college memories in one place.
A memory quilt. Loved fabrics worn by a fabulous woman.
Another fun child quilt. Same pattern as the movie night wuilts above.
This is my all time favorite. Deadpool foundation paper pieced. Made for my husband last year for Father's Day. However, we renamed the holiday to Dadpool Day. This is an unfinished quilt, obviously. Its got borders galore and even has all of our family member names next to their favorite color Deadpool.

But, anyway. I have so many more projects... but their photos are hiding someplace. I'd love to learn more techniques eventually. Though, I feel like I'm not good enough at the skills I do know. Somehow quilts still turn out pretty good though.
